About Us

We are an independent Milkshake and Fruit Fusion Smoothie Bar in the centre of Derby. We have been making delicious Shakes for our customers since 2007 (that’s a lot of Shakes!) Our customers come back time and time again, and our vision is really very simple:

To excite out customers with a personalised Shake and a memorable experience, every time they visit.

Charity work

Most of our customers are families and young people and we also employ a young workforce, so it seems the perfect fit to work with local charities that support young people. Volunteering is a great way for our team to get out in the community and build their confidence and skills. We took our  ‘Shakey Roadshow’ to different group events at Umbrella Derby & Derbyshire where Milkshake-Making Sessions were very popular.

We support Children First, a Derby-based charity that works with vulnerable families and young people to make a positive impact on their lives and in the local community. To raise much needed funds, we undertook practical and fun things like encouraging youngsters to design Milkshake Recipes for our Shake Special and showing them how to make the perfect Shake. Through our charity work, we have found budding ‘Shakeologists’ with some weird and wacky ideas!

Fundraising

Our Free Shake Vouchers are a valued raffle prize and we respond positively to requests for help with fundraising whenever we can. Local primary schools have benefited from #Shakeylicious giveaways which they’ve used to help raise money or in other ways, such as rewards for good attendance. Contact us for more information.

Healthier choices

We are all being encouraged to think about what we eat and drink and there is much more awareness about sugar in everyday foods. We don't do ‘mega’ Shakes in massive cups and we talk about our Milkshakes as a tasty treat and not something designed for breakfast, lunch and tea! Parents can choose the right size Shake for their children with our Junior Shake.

Our Fruit Fusion range includes twelve recipes, which can be enjoyed as part of your five-a-day. We use Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) fruit ingredients from an award-winning supplier. In terms of nutritional value, freezing is the best way of preserving fruit as freezing arrests the product at peak ripeness, preserving the vitamins and minerals which make fruit so nutritious.

For people interested in drinks that are power-packed with nutrients and 100% natural frozen fruit and veg, we offer our all-in-one red and green nutri-pellet Super Booster Protein Smoothies. Good employer

Everyone has agreed minimum hours and a permanent contract. Whatever their age, and whether they work four or forty hours, we give everyone chance to develop and invite them to put forward ideas for improvement.

Volunteering work with our chosen charities is encouraged as that helps to build confidence and adds value to future CVs.

We offer employment opportunities to young people and try to agree shifts that suit their educational commitments if we can. Some of our team start with us during their school years, leave us to go off to university after several years’ service and come back to help fund repayment of their student loan.

Business responsibilities

We retain the services of RBS Mentor to provide advice and support on employment law, HR, health, safety and environmental management. Our systems, policies and procedures are auditable and accessible. Training is delivered through a mix of e-learning, NVQs and external provision with support from specialist training organisations. We have implemented the highest operational standards and are proud of our five-star Environmental Health rating. We actively support intu Derby’s recycling initiatives and, wherever possible, we procure services and supplies from local companies.
