Ssshhh! We had to keep a big secret recently...we were nominated in four categories at the first ever intu Derby Retailer Awards! During the summer, intu Derby Shopping Centre invited the people of Derby to vote for their favourite stores, restaurants, cafés and kiosks. With over 200 stores to choose from and over 40 eateries, we knew competition would be high (but friendly, we hoped!)
If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you will know that I (Chief Shakeologist Leigh), Brandon, Emily and Leanne are not the shy retiring types. So we set to work making you aware that you could vote for us (and praying you would) and you did vote for us...a lot - thank you!
Our four nominations were for Customer Service Star of the Year and Store of the Year, both voted for by you, our lovely customers! And then direct nominations from intu Derby itself for Corporate Responsibility (recognising the work we've done raising money for Children First Derby) and for Outstanding Contribution (as we are always willing to get involved in school holiday activities and anything else happening in the centre).
The awards 'do' was at The Roundhouse on Thursday 29 September and it was fantastic! The Shakeologists definitely enjoyed it...
And, most importantly, we WON Store of the Year! We simply cannot thank you all enough for voting for us, we are super proud.
The morning after...Shakeologist Brandon was on duty at 9.00am and I turned up to make sure he had turned up! We both looked a bit peaky after celebrating but soon got back into the swing of doing what we do best - making the best ever Milkshakes and Fruit Fusion Smoothie Shakes!
Oh, and before I forget, the Shakin' it owners, Martin and Denni, wanted to say thanks too. They are proud to be one of a growing number of successful small businesses that bring something a little bit different to Derby, and they were delighted to see Grand Cafe Caruso win two intu Derby Retailer Awards too!
In 2016, our Charity of the Year was Children First Derby (CFD). The CFD Team works very hard to provide support services for vulnerable children living in the Derby area. We raised £3,000 for the charity during 2016, with fundraising
Amy Childs, television presenter, model, business woman, fashion designer (and celebrity star of The Only Way is Essex) visited Derby and announced that Shakin' it should open a Milkshake Bar in her home town of Brentwood! Amy was guest presenter
At the end of August, we handed over £2,700 to Children First Derby, our charity of the year for 2016. We're super proud that we managed to raise this amount of money from one event and we asked Chief Shakeologist,
We were already looking at products that are kinder to the environment when we received a heart-felt letter from a young primary school pupil who wrote: "Plastic straws are very bad, can you do something to help?" It is estimated
